Welcome to WiiCreate. This site is dedicated to doing interesting and creative things with the Nintendo Wii.
There will be no photos of people breaking themselves, or their home. There will be no pics of injury, smashed TVs or broken lamps. Its all been broken on purpose here, but rebuilt, to rise again as a different strange new contraption.
If you have done anything interesting with your Wii or have any ideas for interesting mods please let us know.

It seems that people are just dying to control other things with their wiimote. The much hacked Roomba robot vacuum cleaner can now be controlled in many ways, including from your PC. Combine this with the Wiimote PC drivers, and you have a Roomba controller!
Great, now you can do by hand what it used to do on its own…
The code has been published along with a video here.

It seems the idea of using the Wiimote to control anything is catching on, another mod here but this time to control a normal RC car. I dont have much info on this, but the google video is here for those that want to take a look. If anybody has any more information on how this was done i’d love to know.

My friends over at Sparkfun have cracked open the Wiimote to take a detailed look at the insides.
Now I bought an accelerometer from them a while back, an ADXL330, it turns out that its the same one inside the Wiimote.
Take a look at their report.

Well, want to get a nice Mii? Want to share a Mii? Join the Mii sharing community on the web by transfering your best (or worst) Mii to the PC.
Here you can do just that, using bluetooth.
A simple program lets you upload and download Miis to your PC.

For those of you that want to control your PC and anything thus connected from your Wiimote, here is the Windows API project!
Yup, this guy has written a lot of code to support the motion sensing, buttons, leds and rumble on the Wiimote. No IR or Mii support yet, but I guess its not long. Anybody care to write a direct X game driver for it now?

World of Warcraft fan? Got a Wii? Play WoW with your Wiimote…
So, with just a normal bluetooth dongle, some funky PC software (GlovePIE sound familiar by now?) you can use the Wiimote to control WoW, as I said before it wont be long before a full direct X driver comes out. Im sure there will be lots of glovepie hacks like this before however.

Ok, we all know the Wii is wireless. I have my Wii home, and its great that I dont need a cable. Oh if only it were that simple.
I took the Wii with me to a work, a place where there are lots of access points in the surrounding area.
The Wii was unusable. A 10-20 second delay was introduced in all movement on the Wiimote. All movement information was accurately transfered, but 15 seconds after you did it. This made the Wii unusable.
I moved the Wii back to an area where there was only 1 AP (my home) and it worked fine again. Ive done some further testing to prove it was the mass of WiFi that caused the problem. All I dont know is at what point (how many other APs) the interference stops the WiiMote working.
The Wiimote uses bluetooth, a different technology right? Wrong. It shares the same frequency as WiFi at 2.4ghz. Bluetooth uses frequency hopping and other tricks to avoid interference, but at some point there is just too much and it starts to take too long to find a gap to transmit the information. Wifi seems to win out over Bluetooth as its more powerfull.
Soon, very very soon, somebody will setup a Wii in a block of flats, or a busy street (for wifi) and find this problem. What should they do? Just not have a Wii? Ask all their neighbours to turn off the WiFi?
There is no cabled option for the Wiimote, so it seems one of the best strengths of this little console, is going to be a huge problem for it in the future.

Ok, I hadnt thought of this one I must admit. It seems that by using two Wiimotes to control virtual ’sticks’ you can toss around a third by bashing it. Ive seen people do this for real in Juggling related situations (dont ask) but a virtual Devil Sticks game? Hmm.

While some are content to use a virtual lightsaber, or an RC car, USMechatronics decided they wanted the Wiimote to be able to move a real robot arm. Cool, but what better to equip the hand with than a sword? Hell yeah.
Check out their Site.
